With millions champing at the bit to go someplace — really, anyplace — as the pandemic eases, Alaska is enticing would-be tourists with a unique perk: a COVID-19 vaccine.
Governor Mike Dunleavy recently announced on Twitter, “[A]ny tourist coming into Alaska this summer at our major airports will be able to get a #COVIDVaccine free of charge.”
So come for the jab and stay for the hundreds of thousands of acres of unspoiled natural vistas, wildlife, and chance to do more hiking, skiing, dog-sledding and Instagramming on glaciers than anywhere else in the U.S.
As of April 19, 39.1% of Alaska’s residents have been fully vaccinated, and the state has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates of anywhere in the country.
