(NEW YORK) — The United States has now surpassed 210,000 COVID-19 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. death toll from the virus stood at 210,013 as of 4:00 p.m. ET Monday afternoon.  It was just two weeks ago, on September 22, that the death toll reached 200,000.

With 1,038,958 global deaths, the U.S. now accounts for just over 20% of COVID-19 deaths worldwide, and 21% of the world’s infections, with 7,445,897 of the world’s 35,330,119 reported cases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is currently forecasting from 219,000 to 232,000 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. by the week ending October 24.
