Diabetes Beyond Numbers

One in 10 adults worldwide currently live with diabetes, an estimated 537 million people. Dr. Nuzhat Chalisa is making Diabetes management and updated diabetes information more accessible and understandable for those who have the disease . Dr. Chalisa is a Clinical Endocrinologist, Diabetes, and Obesity specialist, the Medical Director for Endocrinology and diabetes education at Morris hospital & health care center in Chicago, the Chair Elect for The American Diabetes Association Clinical Centers and Programs Leadership Team, and the President and Founder of the Kisat Diabetes Organization.

Reclaim13

Reclaim13’s mission is to end the cycle of sexual exploitation. 13 is the age a child is most vulnerable for sexual exploitation and Reclaim 13 works to “reclaim” the lives of children who are affected. Through education, healing, and community engagement, Reclaim13 is fighting for a world where all children can grow up feeling safe and loved. Hope For The Day

Suicide has no prejudice, and 700,000 suicides are reported each year, with many more going unreported. Suicide is a preventable mental health crisis and Hope for The Day helps with proactive prevention to address people’s mental health. With us this morning to talk more about Hope for the Day and the work they are doing for mental health and suicide prevention is Allison Herman, Director of Education at Hope For The Day. 11/27/22

AIDS Foundation Chicago

In Illinois, there are an estimated 45,000 people living with HIV and AIDS, and about 1,300 people are diagnosed in Illinois every year. HIV harms the body’s immune system and a cure, as of today, does not exist. But, with the proper medical care, people can live long, happy lives whilst having HIV. AIDS Foundation Chicago works tirelessly to create equity and justice for people living with HIV and its chronic conditions, with a goal of one day having no new HIV cases. With us this morning to talk more about AIDS Foundation Chicago (otherwise known as AFC) and the work they are doing for people living with HIV and AIDs is John Peller, President and CEO of AFC. 11/13/22

Red Door Animal Shelter

The Red Door Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter committed to helping animals in need, with the focus being on cats, dogs and rabbits – the most popular pets in the U.S. Through education, rescue, sheltering and adoption, the Red Door Shelter promotes respect for all animals. Arthritis Foundation

Arthritis isn’t a singular condition, and understanding it is the first step in managing it. People of all ages, races and sexes live with arthritis, and it’s the leading cause of disability in the U.S. The Arthritis Foundation works tirelessly to educate people and provide those affected by the disease with resources to improve their quality of life. With us this morning to talk more about the Arthritis Foundation and the work they are doing for people with arthritis is Jessica Bearak – the Executive Director of the Illinois Chapter. 10/23/22

Faraja Fund Foundation

Every child, no matter their disabilities, should have access to quality education, healthcare and access to careers when they get older. These necessities become especially difficult for children with disabilities born in 3rd world countries. The Faraja Fund Foundation built the Faraja Primary School in Tanzania to give children with disabilities the opportunity for a life of self-sufficiency in mind, body, and spirit. With us this morning to talk more about the Faraja Fund Foundation and the Faraja Primary school is Dave Tolmie – Chairman of the Board. 10/16/22

Treetime Christmas Creations w/ American Cancer Society

With the holiday season approaching, Treetime Christmas Creations is getting prepped to spread Christmas cheer and create long-lasting memories for families all over. But before Santa comes to town, Treetime is partnering with the American Cancer Society during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month to raise money for the more than two-hundred seventy-six thousand women and men who were diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
